The train trip into Brisbane will be a lot easier for Loganholme resident Kathryn Lyons, after the state Labor Party promised to set aside $18 million to upgrade Loganlea train station – less than a 5minute walk away from Meadowbrook Grove.
Works will include new footbridges with lifts, raised platform sections to make it easier to get on to a train, hearing aid loops, better signs and non-slip floors.
Loganlea station is one of six in the southeast to be upgraded. The election promise was one of three large funding windfalls made in the past week for state electorates touching Logan City.
The ALP also promised a $281 million upgrade for the Logan Hospital, one of three hospitals to have funds set aside for expansion works.
The Logan works would result in an extra 192 beds with $12.6 million for a new maternity ward. The maternity ward will provide an extra six inpatient beds, five additional delivery rooms and between 10 and 14 additional cots.
Independent Candidate for Waterford Lee McKenzie McKinnon said he would pressure the government to commit funding to Loganlea train station if elected
