Nearby Marsden Park Shopping Centre having $5 million upgrade

MARSDEN PARK Shopping Centre is getting a makeover, with the announcement of a $5 million program of significant works for the centre set to begin this month.

The refurbishment will deliver a more community-friendly retail environment and a wide range of enhancements including a redesign of public spaces for greater customer convenience and accessibility, and an upgrade of internal amenities.

A number of carpark works are also planned, including surface improvements, and the upgrade and expansion of shade sails for comfort and the protection of vehicles, as well as an upgrade of all carpark lighting for a safer external environment.

Marsden Park Centre caretaker Zelda Roesch said the planned refurbishments would further strengthen the centre’s position as a favourite local shopping destination.

“This project allows us the opportunity to deliver a refreshed retail environment for the Marsden community in alignment with our long-term master plan, ensuring we remain the community’s ‘friendly local’,” she said. “This revitalisation project will make the centre cleaner, safer and even more convenient.”

Ms Zoesch said Marsden Park would remain open throughout construction, with the works set to start this month and be staged to minimise the impact on those visiting the centre.

“We will be sure to keep our community informed as we reach key milestones with this exciting project,” she said.

Logan City councillor Jon Raven welcomed the benefits this refurbishment project will deliver for Marsden.

“This investment will deliver the kind of destination the Marsden community has been asking for,” Cr Raven said.

“Projects like this lift the entire area and provide so much more than just a place to shop.

“I look forward to seeing Marsden Park become a destination where people come to spend time and really enjoy themselves.”

Opened in 1985, Marsden Park has continued to host a complementary mix of retailers, independent fresh food stores and casual dining restaurants.
